Your decision-making style is...
The Procrastinator
But wait! This doesn’t have to be a bad thing. You can get unstuck and make your style work for you.
You have a decision superpower!
You have a lot going on and love getting stuff done. YES.
But since you’re a busy bee, your decisions tend to pile on top of each other — to the point of a lot of avoiding, delays & last-minute choices (once you’re backed into a corner).
Procrastinating is your default Decision Style, and it makes daily choices harder than they need to be.
Best news? You are 1000% capable of unleashing your Inner Decisive Self and making every choice easier!
Luckily (#notluck…you got yourself here on purpose), changing this habit is one of my specialties.
Let’s do this.
Make the most of your style
When you’re not procrastinating, you’re basically a productivity machine.
You know what you need to do, you focus and you get ‘er done.
And you can capitalize on that!
When you’re at your best, your Decision Style is really Being Excellent at Utilizing Deadlines.
That’s essentially all that’s going on when you “wait until the last minute,” right?
The key to feeling like a Deadline Superhero and not a procrastinate-y failure is simply owning your choices.
When you think you might “put a project off” — why not just decide that’s the plan?
If you drop the judgment around how long it takes you to get to stuff, or the fact that you’re doing things right before they’re due, it doesn’t have to be a problem!
Don’t worry — Your solution below will help you solve any problems you need.
But you can make the most of your Decision Style by taking control of when & how you use it.
Your Solution
CREATE YOUR OWN TIMELINES
To interrupt the pattern of stressfully waiting ‘til the last minute (and judging yourself for it the whole time), you need to make more decisions about time.
But you’re not limited to just deadlines here.
The next time you have a project or task you don’t want to feel procrastinatey about, choose from any one of these options:
A) Decide when you’ll start
You don’t always need to know or care when you’ll finish something
A “start line” can be just as effective as a deadline to motivate action — use it!
B) Decide how long it’ll take
Parkinson’s Law states that work will expand to fill the time it’s given (so if you’re worried the garage clean-out might accidentally take a year, you’re not wrong)
Decide how long you want something to create some helpful structure
C) Decide that “last minute” is just fine
Remember utilizing deadlines is your superpower.
If you’re going to do something later, just decide that and don’t judge it!
Things happen quickly when you make clear decisions.
