Your decision-making style is...

The Delayer

But wait! This doesn’t have to be a bad thing. You can get unstuck and make your style work for you.

You have a decision superpower!

You’re not afraid of decisions — you’re just tired of them.

Your brain has a hundred tabs open at once, and every new choice feels like another thing to deal with. So instead of deciding right away, you push it off, hoping it’ll be easier later (or just…goes away).

Sometimes, that actually works! But usually the choices just sit there, quietly stacking up, adding to the weight you’re already carrying — and you don’t know how to make all those decisions with a brain made of mush.

Here’s the truth: delaying isn’t laziness. It’s your nervous system trying to protect you because you’re already overwhelmed, under-resourced, or stretched too thin.

But overwhelm doesn’t tend to go away on its own — and decisions rarely make themselves.

The good news? You can learn to spot when you’re slipping into “delay mode” and practice small shifts that give you back your energy and your clarity.

Imagine closing those open loops sooner — with more confidence and way less brain fog.

That’s what’s possible for you.

Make the most of your style

When you’re not delaying, you’re actually conserving energy in smart, strategic ways.

You don’t waste time overanalyzing — you know how to put things on hold until the timing or resources are right. You can pivot, reprioritize, and stay flexible.

That’s powerful.

When you’re at your best, your Decision Style is really Discerning.

You get to decide when “later” is truly the best choice — and when “now” will give you the most relief.

As long as you use it as a strength and not an obstacle, this can be the reason you feel lighter, clearer, and more in control.

To make the most of it, notice the times when pausing feels intentional and helpful — and the times when it’s just creating a bigger pile for your future self.

The more you recognize the difference, the more you’ll be in charge of your “delay power” — instead of it running the show.

The key to making the most of your style is to take charge of when you wait, and when you act.

Your Solution

PLAY THE SHORT -AND- LONG GAMES

The short game is about protecting your energy in the moment: making fast, imperfect choices instead of throwing every little thing onto the Later Pile.

  • For most decisions, “good enough” is exactly what you need. This clears out the mental clutter and keeps the pile from growing.

  • Instead of agonizing over which salad dressing to buy, let yourself pick one quickly and move on.

  • Instead of stalling on an email reply until it’s perfectly worded, send the decent-enough version and free up your headspace.

  • Get yourself comfortable with giving C- effort to decisions that truly don’t require your A+ best. And know that won’t be the way you need to live forever (…see: the long game!).

The long game is about fixing the bigger problem — being stretched too thin.

  • That means investing your time and energy upstream, even when it doesn’t feel urgent.

  • Put an hour on your calendar during your prime brain time (the part of the day when you’re clearest) just to think about the bigger changes you need. Yes — even if other things seem “more important.”

  • You don’t have to completely abandon your responsibilities to do this. But you do need to recognize that change doesn’t happen on its own. And you deserve to get some of your best energy — not just the leftovers!

Think of it like fixing a leaky roof. Buckets on the floor will keep you dry for a while (short game). But if you never climb up and patch the shingles (long game), you’ll always be mopping up messes.

The more you commit to both — quick calls in the moment + bigger-picture solutions over time — the more space you’ll free up in your brain.

And that’s when decision-making finally starts to feel clear, calm, and doable.

Decisions get easier when you trust yourself and take charge of your process.
